Gratitude!

Hello !

Recently, I've noticed a lot of the American and Canadian Bloggers that I follow, Talking about celebrating Thanksgiving. In England we don't actually celebrate Thanksgiving so I didn't really know very much about it so I asked Crystal ( You can find her lovely blog here ) and she explained to me that ( apart from eating lots of yummy food ) it's all to do with being with your family and thinking about all the things you're thankful for ! I think this is a brilliant thing to be doing because think how much happier you would be if you were thankful for ALL the little things we have in life. I thought about it and then I decided to make a list :)

Things I'm Grateful For :

  • Cats ( They always calm me down and give great cuddles )
  • Carrie Hope Fletcher and her endless positivity
  • My dads humour and our inside jokes
  • That taken aback smiley look that people do when I say "have a nice day" and they're not expecting it
  • My best friend kindness
  • People who comment nice things on my blog
  • Everyone being different but no one being completely alone ( whatever they think )
  • Smiling
  • My physical health
  • Hope
  • Authors writing books that make me think ... or make my heart melt ( I'm not picky hehe )
  • My boyfriends heart and mine being made of the same thing... I'm not sure what that is exactly, I assumed glitter ;)
  • Doctor Who
These are just a few off my list ! A while back me and my best friend decided we wanted to improve our general well being in a few ways and one of them was to start a gratitude diary. We really wanted to use an app because It's easy to forget about a notebook and I always set my alarm before bed so I would always have my phone to do it :)

Then we came across Grid Diary. Grid Diary is a brilliant app, it takes about 10 minutes each night to answer 10 questions that I've set myself ! Some of mine are things like: What are 3 things you're grateful for ? What are three things you appreciate about yourself ? What are 3 good things that happened today ? I even use it to keep track of if I've meditated that day !

I've been using the app a few months and loving it so I had to share it with you guys because I knew you'd all love it too ! I think it would really help to boost your positivity and well being and when you look back you have a very long list that you've built up of good things about yourself and things you're grateful for :)

Let me know in the comments, five things that you're grateful for and if you've tried using this app. I'd love to hear what you think of it !

Stay Strong <3 Stay Smiley :)

Lots of love, Marianne xxx

  1. :D This honestly made me so so happy to read! :D It really means a lot that you took part in something we in the U.S. and Canada celebrate :) <3 I agree! It's definitely really important to just take a step back and be thankful for all that you have. Five things that I'm grateful for are: music, the bond I have with my family, My dogs Daisy and Brandy because they are just so cute!, having a roof over my head, and for my health. You are so cute Marianne! haha If your boyfriend has a similar heart to yours, then you guys are golden <3 That app sounds like such a good idea! I tend to do the same thing with journals so I'll have to give this app a try :D I'll let you know how it works out ;) Hope you are having a lovely day Marianne x :)

    1. Aww I'm so glad it did Crystal :) It's such a lovely celebration, I couldn't not acknowledge it ! It's so so nice to realise everything that we have, I mean we spend plenty of time listing off all the bad thing that happens to us but in all honesty if we compared the two lists I'm betting the things you're thankful for would be longer <3 Aww I think pets are definitely something to be grateful for they're always my number 1 source of cuddles hehe ! Aww you're so sweet Crystal bless you :) I bet you'll love it , I've found it so so helpful and I can't wait to hear what you think of it :)

  2. This is such a sweet and heartwarming post! We have so much to be thankful for, all the blessings in our life from the littlest of things to the bigger ones. Sometimes when things move really fast in life we take these things for granted so it's really important to do what you just did, take a step back and look at all the blessings around you. Thank you for letting us know of that app, that's a wonderful concept! Lovely post as per usual dear, so motivational! xxxxx

    1. I really hope you like it ! I never used to be able to keep up journals but I guess because I can personalise this app to how I need it and then it's just on my phone so I'm less likely to leave it somewhere and it's just generally more convenient :) Aw I hope you have a brilliant Thanksgiving !

  6. Marianne, thank you so much for sharing this app, it sounds amazing! I've been really into doing a gratitude journal lately as well, but it is hard to to remember a notebook sometimes, especially when I'm in shut down mode, so this will be a great thing to incorporate! I love Thanksgiving for the time I get to spend with my family, it's one day where none of us has to worry about running errands, working, or the general things we have to do in everyday life and we can just enjoy eachother's company! I'm grateful for the friends I've made through my blog, my family, my love, my health and coffee. Always coffee LOL! Thanks so much for such a lovely post Marianne, you always make my day a little more bright! XO -Kim

  8. This is a wonderful post. I lived in America for five years and have American family over there and each yeah we would spend Thanksgiving as one big family, there would be an abundance of food and many prayers of gratitude said around the table. It's a tradition I really respect and I love the history behind it, I wish we had something similar over here in England.

  11. What a lovely post, Marianne! I've never heard of this app before but I think it's brilliant!
I've also thought about having a "grateful journal" - writing down everything you're thankful for, either daily or whenever you're feeling in the moment. I think it's so important to remind ourselves to be thankful for what we have and not to always concentrate on the things we don't have or compare ourselves to others (I totally know it's easier said than done!) Thank you for this reminder :)

    Happy Wednesday!

You're so right , there are so many wonderful things in the world and we just ignore them and we could so easily make ourselves much happier if we spent time thinking about our blessings :) Aww thank you that's really sweet hehe <3 I'm grateful for you finding self love as well because I learn so much from you and your blog as a result of it :) Aww no problem honey, I really hope you're feeling better and I'm sending big big hugs !
