Hello Lovely People !
For the last year every so often you'll of heard me say things such as " I really want to get into yoga" or "I went to yoga on Friday and really enjoyed it so I'm going to go every week". I'll only give you one guess to work out which half of that statement was true ( spoiler alert , it was a lie that I was going to go back ). However it wasn't that I didn't want to go back it was that I simply wasn't dedicated enough to make the effort to keep going back, plus ... it kind of hurt. Yoga is hard work and I'm inflexible and very good at comparing myself to others. So I gave up.However a few weeks ago I was talking with a wonderful woman who focuses a lot on yoga and well-being. She told me that yoga is about listening to my body and learning to give it what it needs. If the hardest pose is hurting my body then I need to stick with the less advanced and build up my strength. That conversation about looking after and listening to my body as a way to increase my mental and physical well-being inspired me to change my eating habits ( I've become vegetarian and gradually transitioning to vegan , let me know in the comments if you'd like to read some posts about that ) , focus on mindfulness and start doing yoga .
As a way to keep me focused on Yoga I'm starting a series called "The Yoga Diaries" and if you have any better ideas for names for the series I'd love to hear your suggestions in the comments. It's going to be an honest documentation of my journey with yoga and mindfulness. I will share new poses I've learnt, breathing techniques, resources and how my strength gradually ( hopefully ) builds up . These posts will be up every Friday. I will be also be posting on another happiness and well-being based post on Tuesdays as part of my new posting schedule. If there are any posts that you'd like to see as part of these please let me know !
I can't wait to start this journey with you ! I'd also love for you to leave your suggestions for amatueur blogs ( under 1000 followers .. preferably under 500 ) that posts about well-being, positivity and health ! I really want to start reading more blog in that area ! I can't wait to read your suggestions.
Stay Strong <3 Stay Smiley :)

I know exactly how you feel! I have a yoga studio down the road from my house, so I signed up for a free hot yoga session to see how I would like it. And I loved it! But I just never got around to signing up for a membership. I'd love to read about your progress - perhaps I'll be inspired to finally get my butt in gear and do it myself!

That's awesome ! I'm currently moving house to somewhere that's very close to where I do yoga so I think that will really help . It would be awesome if we could all do yoga together !

Yoga with Adriene is my favourite youtube yoga instructor-- she does a 30 days of yoga that is just so fun! and her lessons are completely free so... bonus! I have a lot of wellness blogs that I adore. Sauniya at Find Your Bliss is awesome as well as Catherine at the Blissful Mind. I have a ton more though so perhaps I'll email you a list to check out ;) I am so looking forward to this new Yoga series you're doing! Remember, it's about learning your body and deepening your connection with it. You can do this! xx
ReplyDeleteThat sounds really good ! I'm going to look into that right after I've replied to these comments ! Thank you so much for your suggestions I'll be checking them out ! Thank you so much for your support and your advice !

I love this idea. Will be great to read about your mindfulness advice and yoga is definitely a great way to start. I used to do it at uni but haven't picked it back up since I moved back home, so it would be great to hear some of your techniques. I also post mindfulness posts on my blog at least once a month as I think it is good to talk about and share well-being ideas :). Gemma xx

I really want to start yoga too! It seems so beneficial to the mind and body. And I really like what you said about being able to build up your strength if something seems difficult at first. It makes it seem less scary haha!

Perhaps we could do it together hehe ! I think that when you start yoga, everything looks so effortless and it's really disheartening when you can't do it because it's actually so hard and I really want to be completely honest in this series so that people can find the motivation to keep going with it !

Can't wait to read your Yoga Diaries, and I think that it's a really good name for that series! :) <3 Honestly, I never really considered doing yoga myself. I just don't think that it's really for me, but I do enjoy reading other people's experiences with it, some of the bloggers I know do yoga diaries and they're always an interesting read! Thanks for sharing, hun. <3

I think it is so great that you are giving Yoga another chance and the woman that you talked to is entirely right. There is a pose that can always be done in place of another for different levels. I love yoga because it is all about a journey with yourself and not to compare yourself to anyone else or even compare yourself to where you feel you should be. Sounds like a lovely series to start!

Oh nice! Yoga is always one of those things I say I am going to do too! Haha. I have taken a few classes and I didn't like it. But I do kind of want to give it another shot again. That's a great idea to do a yoga series! I hope you have a fun adventure. :)

It's definitely hard to stick with stuff but I'm certain that this time I'm going to stick with it and I really think this series will help me and hopefully others !
