So this week was my second yoga class and I had one notable thought throughout the class... OH MY GOSH EVERYTHING ACHES SOOOOOOOOOO BAD ! However it was bearable, I know this because I persevered and put up with the aching. I also learned that it's okay every now and then to let go of the pose and take a second to regather your strength. No one in the class is judging you, they're all too concerned with their own aching limbs so remember to listen to your body and do what feels right. My struggles with Downward dog continued, but a lovely lady in the yoga class moved her mat to be next to me because she saw me struggling and offered me some tips ( It turns out everything's easier when you're doing it right, who knew eh ? hehe ). She was really kind and helpful so I think I'm going to pick her up a box of vegan chocolates in the week as a thank you !
What went well : My Downward Dog is definitely improving.
What I need to improve : Being able to hold poses for longer.
How I'm going to improve : I'm going to do weights every day to improve my strength.
What've you done this week to improve yourself or make yourself proud ? Let me know in the comments !
Stay Strong <3 Stay Smiley :)

This is my current efforts towards the extended child's pose ... it's a great pose to relax into when you're struggling to hold more difficult poses for as long as the rest of the class ! |
I find that after yoga my body aches SO MUCH. After time you'll feel much better, but I can definitely agree that the first couple times is rather painful! Child's pose is my fave ahahah.

It's definitely not the easy activity it appears to be ! I think childs pose is a life saver when you need to take a quick break from the move that the rest of the class is doing especially when you're first starting !

Good for you, Marianne!! Yoga is no joke, it can definitely be tricky, so kudos to you!
ReplyDeleteI think this week, I'm just continuously proud that I've been going vegetarian now for almost 3 months. I've been (surprisingly!) enjoying a lotta the meat-free options out there! (and this is coming from someone who alllllways ate meat). Plus, my skin has been thanking me :) So yeah - I'd say I'm proud about that this week :)

Thank you darling ! It's really reassuring to hear words of encouragement ! Oh my gosh that's a brilliant achievement I've also become vegetarian recently ( In September ) and am working on slowly transitioning to veganism by next summer, it may interest you to know that as part of blogmas I will be writing a series called compassionate Christmas where I'll talk about accidentally vegan Christmas treats and make up and coffee shop finds !

It's awesome that you're improving. I've wanted to try yoga for the longest time, maybe I'll actually try it sometime soon. This week I just got back into blogging, and as I've always loved writing, it makes me feel great. I followed you and would love if you'd follow me back when you get a chance!

Hey girl ! I love those yoga diaries !!
ReplyDeleteAnd the children's pose is one of my favorite ever to do at the end of a yoga session - I feel so relaxed and relieved.
It's now been 3 full months of yoga classes for me and I can definitely feel improvements !

Sounds like things are going along swimmingly! Nothing is better than the feeling of getting an even deeper stretch in your downward dog and being able to finally put your heels on the floor after lots of practice! So glad to hear yours is getting better!
