The Anti-Sadness Jar | DIY

Hello,

Happiness is something we all strive for. After all, everybody wants to be happy :) So myself and Emma from the lovely little blog " Ems World" have been working together to think of ways to help you boost the focus on creating happiness in life so you can really live life to the full ! So pop over to Emmas blog to read a wonderful post she's put together on 'How to be more positive' for lots of helpful tips that will leave you bursting with sunshine :) Unfortunately, there are times when you're feeling what can only be described as a lil bit rubbish. And I can't stress enough that that's completely okay and you should always let yourself have the time to feel sad until you're ready to get up and going again and... well , as my girlfriend would say " Get your sparkle back ". So today I thought I'd show you a quick and easy DIY you can make to help you out in those moments when you're ready to put a smile on your face !

Step One : Get some bright colored paper ( I choose yellow add a little sunshine ) and draw lines down the page.

Step Two : Cut along the lines with scissors so that you get lots of strips.

Step Three : On each strip write something for you to do when you're sad to get your sparkle back. Or even a nice quote or a sweet message to yourself. Anything to make you smile.

If you're a little stuck , here are a few of my ideas :

  • Read a book
  • Make pancakes ( Pancake day doesn't come often enough )
  • Leave a hopeful note
  • Bake a cake
  • Go swimming
  • Paint your nails
  • Watch a comedy
  • Play with kittens
  • Have cuddles with a loved one
  • Have a sing song ( There's very little a sing song can't make feel better )
  • Go shopping
  • Draw
  • Take yourself out for coffee

Step Four : Pop these strips of paper into a mason jar and pick one out whenever you need a little extra sunshine in your life !

I'd love to hear how it turns out if you have a go at this ! What things would be on your jar ? I think it can be really helpful to have some go to ideas for when you're feeling down because when you're in  a bad place you're not always thinking straight so it's great to have a pre-made plan to get your sparkle back :)

Stay Strong <3 Stay Smiley :)

Lots of love, Marianne xxx

P.s. I'm in exam season now so until the end of June I'm only going to be able to post twice a week ( Monday and Friday ) and I might end up missing a few posts but I'll do my best to stay on top of it !

  1. I love this idea :D It not only helps brighten your day but it can brighten up someone else's as well <3 This makes for such a perfect gift. I made my friend a happiness jar last year for her birthday and she absolutely loved it :) I filled it up with things that I loved about her and inside jokes and quotes to help inspire her. I'm going to have to make myself one of these and put in on my desk so that I can reach for it whenever I need to :) Good Luck on your exams! I hope you do well <3

  9. I love your DIY posts, especially when it's all about bringing positivity! Basically, I love what you're doing with your blog and promoting happiness. We need more reads like this! A positivity jar is such a great idea. I've also read about memory jars done in the same way too - writing down memories of something or someone so you'll never forget. You can go back whenever you want and read what you wrote. Have a lovely Sunday!!
