The Man Who Didn't Tut...

Helloo,

Today I wanted to talk about something that happened to me ( Or rather didn't ) at the gym today :) I was at the gym on the exercise bikes when a man walked in and as he walked past me to get to the running machine, I thought I heard him tut at me. At this point I needed to have a serious talk with myself . This man did NOT tut at me .

a) Why would he ? I wasn't doing anything that would provoke disapproval, I was just using the gym like everyone else .

b) He couldn't care less what I was doing ! Why on Earth would he ? The man just wanted to use the gym , just the same as I wanted to . I didn't care what anyone else was doing in the gym because it didn't affect me, just like I didn't affect him .

What actually happened was I was, I saw a man walk in and was probably feeling a little self conscious because sweaty and exhausted is hardly my best look ;) I forgot for a few minutes, like I expect everyone does, NOBODY CARES ABOUT WHAT YOU'RE DOING .

Obviously I don't mean that in a mean way I'm sure lots and lots of people care about you're wellbeing and happiness, but my point is that strangers don't care what you're doing, what you're wearing or whether your hair is slightly out of place! No one even notices.

Do you notice everyone you walk past and all their faults ? Do you waste your day thinking about that person who walked past you twice because they went the wrong way and had to turn around ? Did you even notice ? I didn't think so <3

People aren't judging you . Not everybody is out to get you. You don't need to be self conscious and constantly looking out for someone giving you a funny look. Trust me if you have better things to do than judge strangers, then so do they :) The only person that's stressing out at you is yourself and you're worth more than that, I pinkie promise :)

In short, people aren't trying catch you out, you're loved by those who know you and those who don't know you aren't looking for something to dislike about you, they're too busy <3

Stay Strong <3 Stay Smiley :)

Lots of love, Marianne xxx

  1. I really needed this, lately I have been thinking way to much about how I present myself at school. I've been wearing a lot of makeup for the last couple of months. Then I thought to myself 'Nobody even notices how much bronzer I wear'. I used to wear makeup because it made me more confident but then I guess I thought I had to continue to wear it otherwise people would give me looks. I've stopped wearing so much and it feels so good! Especially in summer!:)

    Thankyou for this post.

    1. Aww I'm glad it helped ! I completely understand, I'm the same with make up but I'm really trying to only wear it when I really want to not just for the sake of the typical nightmare of "But what if I see someone I know?" it's a really bad way to view myself and I'm trying really hard to ease off make up :) I'd love to enjoy a make up free summer as well :)

  3. I completely agree with you. Everyone is too busy thinking about his own problems, so there's really no reason to feel like under a spotlight everytime you get out of the house.
The only few times, when someone pointed out to me, that I look bad, weird, or just "like that", they were kids. But they probably were just curious and didn't know any better, so it's not a big deal.

    1. Yeah it's just difficult for people to see or understand when they feel like they're the only ones being stared at but in reality if anything people are just interested and if nothing else being innocently nosey , people are very rarely judging or being mean , they simply dont have time :)

  4. This post is so true!! I kind of fall guilty under the thinking people are out to get you sometimes. Like if somebody behind me laughs I start thinking oh no! do I have toilet paper hanging on my pants or did I sit down somewhere and get a stain?! or if someone just laughs in general and is in close proximity to me I start getting self conscious and think I have something on my face :O but you are so right! no one is really out to get you. Maybe that person didn't even realize you were there. It's all in our heads, we have this idea that everyone is going to judge you but really a lot of people are more worried and focused about what they are doing that they are not going to stop what they are doing to poke fun at you.

    1. You're so right, that is a brilliant example ! :) People are a lot nicer than we give them credit for ! I mean it's not our fault for seeing every person as a potential monster set out with a neatly written up plan with labelled diagrams on how to ruin your life, the news and media projects that version of the world. I mean, how often is someone on the news for being really nice, and staying nice ? We need more positivity out there reaching the mainstream forms of media :)

    2. that is so true!! Unfortunately it's what we kind of ask for because it's what gets the most attention but personally I would much rather hear about really great acts of kindness too :D I think like you said it would help us see some positivity in people and not just assume that everyone is monster.
