Weekend Away In York

Hey guys ! 

Okay ... so I've been a lil bit unreliable the past two weeks with posting and it has only been one post a week but I promise I'm getting focused again now! I'm currently working on lots of new and exciting things for Don'tBurstMyBubble including new content on mental wellbeing and living a good and happy life , creating a newsletter and getting my own demain ! However whilst I'm doing that I will try my best to keep on top of posts. I've also been away this weekend because my mum booked me and my girlfriend a weekend away in York for my birthday present ! So today I thought I'd share a few pictures we took !

Our first day began at the train station ... we took a lot of trains that day haha :)

But it was so worth it when we got to our gorgeous hotel !! We stayed at The Monkbar hotel in York and it was so lovely and fresh and all the staff were super friendly :) Thanks mum !

Then we decided to head off for an evening walk around the city walls so that we could see all of York and get some nice photos. If you're ever in York you should definitely walk around the walls, it takes about two hours for most people ( My girlfriend is on crutches so it took us a while longer with sit downs ) but it's well worth it !

During our walk we found this pretty fountain where we took the chance to take some photos !

On the Saturday we went to the Castle Museum where we got to go on a Victorian carasel , The Chocolate Factory ( That was a particularly yummy part of our trip ) and then to the Dungeons !

On our final day in York we went for breakfast at Betty's ( an adorable high quality tea shop in York that I've always loved ) and then picked up some of gorgeous brownies that were decorated to look like ladybirds !

My girlfriend nearly gave me a heart attack whilst taking the photo of the Betty's sign by dangling herself and my camera out of the window from the upstairs tea room because " But Marianne .... everyone has the picture from the street it will look better from up here ... " haha , but hey I love her :)

Coming Out

Hey Guys,

If you're a regular reader and have been for a while now, it probably didn't escape your notice that I around Christmas I disappeared off the blogging scene and re-appeared a month later. Having broken up with my boyfriend and happily dating my girlfriend.

I was always very open with you guys about my girlfriend. That's probably because me and my girlfriend had a long chat soon after we started dating officially about how best to avoid problems when coming out. So, in the end we decided not to, we'd pretend nothing had ever been different, people would assume we'd already taken the crap for it and leave us be. It was a long shot, but in most parts of our lives, for some reason it worked ! I detoxed my life of anyone and anything that didn't make me happy, went into college and held her hand.

Obviously it wasn't quite that simple. With my family, complications with my ex boyfriend ( some of my older readers may remember that I used to talk of him fondly on my blog and say how happy I was with him, I also spoke like this in really life in a desperate attempt to convince myself because if I'm honest I was scared, but that caused a lot of confusion in the aftermath of the break up ) and the odd 12 year old shouting abuse at me and my girlfriend down the street. But we made it and it was worth it and  I couldn't be happier with my girl.

It was really hard at first, I'd cry most nights and the question " Should I let go of your hand ? " when walking past somebody we knew in the street, was a regular one, Until one day I realised nothing felt like holding her hand. I almost lost her once just before we got together and I remember waking up that morning and knowing that I'd hurt her and it felt like my heart had shattered and the broken pieces were ripping my stomach to shreds. I remember feeling so sick at the bus stop that I just had to call her and she shouldn't of answered ... but she did and then I knew she always would. The next day she would tell me about the life we were going to have and the fluffy towels that would always be in our bathroom... but more on that another time. For now, all you guys or anybody else need to know , is that I love her.

So here's the coming out post. You get it now, six months late but here you go. I'm gay, I'm cool with that and I hope you are too. The Girlfriend Make Up Tag

Hello , 

Recently I was over on my wonderful friend Kims blog " The Thirty Something Life " and she did a hilarious tag where she asked her husband to tell her what different make up items were used for and oh my gosh I couldn't stop laughing while reading her post ( You can find it here if you need something to brighten your day ). So as my girlfriend doesn't and as never worn make up , I thought Id surprise her last Saturday night with a little make up quiz ( I'm pretty sure she only answered so I'd stop harassing her and let her carry on watching Orange Is The New Black ) and here are her answers :

Warning : she literally knew NOTHING about make up, some of her answers are wildly inappropriate and nearly all answers are offensive to beauty bloggers !

What Are These Make Up Products For ? 

Bronzer : That's the brown stuff .. that goes on your cheekbones ... that doesn't actually do anything ! ( Me : "You're going to upset a looooot of beauty bloggers" )

Blusher : That's the pink stuff you wear too much of !

Mascara : That's for your eyelashes, to make them black . That gets on your nose and stains my tops when you cry on me !

Eye Liner : The Wings ! To make you fly ?

Strobing : IS THAT SOMETHING YOU STICK UP YOUR BUM ? LIKE SOMETHING YOU'D GET DONE AT THE DOCTORS ? THAT'S A HORRIBLE WORD, IT MAKES MY BUM CLENCH !

Eye Shadow : For colourful eyelids ?

Powder: Is that the stuff that makes people go orange ?

Foundation : That goes on peoples faces to give them gravy lines .

Concealer : For your spots . It's supposed to make them go away but it doesn't.

Highlighting : Isn't it to put different colours into your face ?

Setting Spray : Do you put it on before you apply everything to make your face soft ?

Contouring : I know this one ! This is where they put all different colours on their face and blend it all in but it doesn't do anything . Oh, and some girls do it to their boobs ! I watched a video on that !

Primer : That's what you use ! You put it on before your make up . It comes in a tiny bottle and costs loads .

Lip Liner : It goes around the edge of your lip and makes girls think they're cool ?

Brow Pencil : To draw on ridiculous eye brows

Serum : * Gives me a funny look * ... that sounds like seamen ... like ... a female version ..

Cleanser : Something to do with pores , on your face ?

Micellar Water : Is it just a type of water ? To get rid of all the thick bits of make up on your face ?

Toner : The liquid stuff.

Was This Test Hard ?

 It was ridiculous !

Why ? 

I don't believe anybody uses that much make up and if they do they should have better things to spend their money on ... like me ?

Soooo .... I'll leave that there haha :) I really had a lot of fun doing this tag with my girlfriend and I hope it gave you a few laughs to brighten up your day :) I'd love to read more of these so If any of you do this tag then be sure to leave a link in the comments !
